Detroit Connections: Design Collaboration

This course explores graphic design, the city of Detroit, and the possibilities of collaborative work in the context of both student design teams as well as students working with community partners. Students take on several projects over the course of the semester with different community partners — past projects include the design of a cookbook with Neighbors Building Brightmoor and a publication of watercolors and creative writing with a 7th grade Language Arts class at Detroit Community School. Students develop their graphic design skills while engaging in the exhilaration of collaborative making.
