Power to the Paint

Power to the Paint

In an effort to draw attention to trash dumping in Brightmoor and around the city, “Power to the Paint” has been recruiting students from Detroit Community High School to help spray paint piles of trash in the neighborhood bright pink.

From the project team.. “The aim of this project is to draw attention to the dumping that takes place within Detroit, and in the Brightmoor community especially. Whether it is people outside of Detroit bringing their trash here or members of the community, it is disrespectful to the neighborhoods of the city. The goal is to highlight this phenomenon by painting the trash bright pink, a color that really stands out. Additionally, by making signs of our own to place around the trash people will be deterred from dumping there. These personalized signs created by high school students and members of the community show that people really care about and are putting a lot of time and effort to stop these issues.”
