BAM!

BAM! – Brightmoor Active Mentorship – is a project that originated in Detroit Connections: Change by Design. With the goal of developing design based skills in our high school partners as they approach their college applications, the BAM! curriculum assimilates interests in athletics and design through a series of athletic shoe design workshops.

Held as a regular after school and summer program open to all students at Detroit Community High School, the program teaches the intricacies of footwear design through projects that develop skills in rendering by hand and with digital technology as well as three dimensional modeling. Students are introduced to professionals in the field of footwear design through class visits, field trips and video conferencing and through these interactions receive feedback on their own designs.
